2018 USC BOARD NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN

We are now accepting nominations for the 2018 USC Austin Alumni Club Board Members and Special Committee Members. To become a nominee, please read the descriptions below of the open positions and then fill out the form at the bottom of this page.

NOMINATION RULES

  1. All nominations are due by Midnight CST on Thursday 11/16/2017
  2. Nominated members for each position will be circulated to all USC Austin Alumni Club members via email on Friday, 11/17/2017 by Noon CST. If you are not currently on the email distribution list, please make sure you sign up here: http://www.austintrojans.org/contact
  3. Voting will be held at halftime of the USC vs UCLA game at Mister Tramps on Saturday, 11/18/2017. You must be present to vote.
  4. All other voting procedures will follow our established charter voting rules.

president

The President is the key point of contact between the local club chapter and the USC Alumni Association. He/She must attend monthly teleconferences with USCAA staff, maintains the club charter and bylaws, holds regular meetings and 1:1s with other club board members, and represents the club at press and charitable events. He/she directs the strategy of the club during their year of service, and helps to ensure a smooth transition between each year’s boards.
·      Projected Time Commitment: 5-10 hours per month
·      Recommended Qualifications: Must be a USC graduate; Prior USC Club Board service preferable


Social Chair

The Social Chair plans the social calendar for the local club, usually consisting of about 1 event per month. This includes coordinating with local businesses to reserve the event space and/or acquire special discounts or pricing for club members, inviting club members to the events, and attending all events to ensure a smooth event execution and welcome club members. Additionally, he/she is the key individual responsible for planning the annual SCend Off event for new Trojans from the Austin area. When available, the Social Chair is assisted by a Social Committee.
·      Projected Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per month

communication chair

The Communications Chair manages the local club email marketing, social media presence, and website. They also coordinate with the USCAA to ensure all club activities are listed on the national website.
·      Projected Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per month
·      Recommended Qualifications: Previous marketing experience helpful, but not required


gamewatch chair

The Gamewatch Chair is responsible for coordinating and negotiating football gamewatch locations for the local club. This includes ensuring that the venue dedicates appropriate space and technical requirements to showing our football games (which may include setting up livestreams for untelevised games.) The Gamewatch Chair should plan to attend most games at the Gamewatch venue.
·      Projected Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per week during the fall only
·      Recommended Qualifications: None


The Development Chair is in charge of new member development and professional development/networking events for the club, which generally consists of 1 event in the spring and 1 in the fall, usually in coordination with the USCAA. They also assist with fundraising planning and execution, in coordination with the Finance Chair.
·      Projected Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per month
·      Recommended Qualifications: None

The Finance Chair is responsible for monitoring the club bank account and ensuring proper accounting and record keeping for any club donations. They also lead planning for fundraising activities such as football raffles, t-shirt sales, Amazon Smile, etc. When available, the Finance Chair is assisted by a Finance Committee.
·      Projected Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per month
·      Recommended Qualifications: Previous accounting or finance experience helpful, but not required

Finance Chair


The Service Chair works alongside the USCAA to plan the annual Spring SCervice event, and also helps to coordinate the awarding of club scholarships in the fall. When requested by the USCAA, they may also coordinate volunteer attendance at local high school college fairs.
·      Projected Time Commitment: >1 hour per month

Service & Scholarship Chair


The Spirit Chair is responsible for amplifying excitement and a festive atmosphere at USC club activities. This includes but is not limited to: helping distribute pom-poms and freebies at events, leading the SoCal Spellout at Gamewatches, welcoming newbies to the club, and generally being a friendly, high-energy club member who can attend many club events.
·      Projected Time Commitment: 3-4 hours per month (to attend events only)
·      Recommended Qualifications: None.

These lower time commitment positions help assist the board members and are a great entry-point for newcomers into Club leadership.

Helps the Social Chair execute or plan up to 2 events on the annual event calendar. Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per event.

Social Committee


Helps the Finance Chair execute or plan up to 2 fundraising activities over the course of the year. Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per activity.
